Whether you’re hitting the slopes at Bear Valley, exploring the trails at Calaveras Big Trees State Park, or simply taking in the scenery from the comfort of your own private deck, there’s something for everyone here.
We’re excited to offer two cabins for your stay – the Evergreen Dorrington Chalet and the Evergreen Pinecone Cottage. And if you’ve got a big group, why not rent them both and enjoy the best of both worlds? They’re just across the street from each other, making it easy to enjoy all the amenities of both properties.

Dorrington is a small mountain community in Calaveras County, just 10 minutes up the mountain from Arnold. Dorrington is an easy 2.5 to 3-hour drive from the Bay Area.
Absolutely! In fact, we consider pets to be part of the family, so why would we ask you to leave them behind? You are welcome to bring along up to two well-behaved, house-trained dogs. We charge $100 per pet fee, but waive it for direct bookings!
When the weather is cold and wintry, it's time for snow fun! Bear Valley Ski Area and Bear Valley Cross Country Skiing (40 min) are great options for outdoor adventuring.
For more low-key fun, head to either Spicer or Alpine Sno-Parks (20 & 30 min), or snow play at Calaveras Big Trees State Park (5 min).
We usually have plenty of sleds and saucers available for guests.
Yes, it definitely snows in Dorrington. For the most part, winter rain in Arnold means snow in Dorrington! We get 2-3 times as much snow as Arnold, but not nearly as much as Bear Valley, which is only about 40 minutes away.
Of course, every year is different, but the snow season can start as early as December. Snowfall in Dorrington typically ramps up in January and February. Levels tend to peak in March and then taper off in April.

No. Even though we list our cabin on Airbnb and VRBO, those companies do not provide any of the amenities or hospitality that guests value at Evergreen.
